          STUDENT WELL-BEING AND WELFARE LEADER

Full time (37 hours per week) TTO including inset days plus 10 days in the holidays

To include exam support (external exam results days in August) and transition.

Venturers Trust is a new Multi Academy Trust based in Bristol formed through the merger of CGS Trust and Merchants’ Academy Trust in September 2017. Comprising Primary, Secondary, all-age schools and a Special school the Trust has 3,200 pupils and 700 staff.

The Trust is sponsored by the Society of Merchant Venturers and the University of Bristol. Both sponsors seek to ensure that all our young people receive a truly inspiring education. Their support, challenge and expertise are greatly valued.

This is an exciting and challenging new role at CGS that will require an ability to think and plan strategically and put these plans into action. We are looking for someone who will develop and shape this role around the needs of our students. The role would be suited to those with significant pastoral and safeguarding experience in an educational setting who has experience of leading and managing others and/or leading whole school projects. Applications would be welcome from anyone with pastoral, teaching or leadership experience in schools or colleges.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Been well educated.
  • Qualifications that are related to working with young people and/or relating to issues that impact young people.
  • Qualified in at least Initial CP and Safeguarding in last two years
  • Experience of working within an education setting.
  • Experience of working with students in a Pastoral and Wellbeing context.
  • Experience of leading and managing others.
  • Multi-agency working
  • Strong and secure knowledge of safeguarding.
  • Knowledge of a range of issues that affect young people e.g. self harm, anxiety, stress, social media, self image, depression, eating disorders and being able to understand and identify changes in behaviour
  • An understanding of how young people develop and the issues that they may face.
  • Knowledge on the different ways to work with, communicate and support young people.
  • An understanding on how to lead and manage other people.
  • Ability to create and design programmes/workshops for students and staff to participate in.
  • Ability to be able to organise and lead assemblies.
  • Ability to engage positively and constructively with parents.
  • Ability to work using an approach that puts the student front and centre.
