About our Houses

The House system (introduced September 2016) with Houses named after women who changed the world will help support and maintain the school community as the school grows. The Houses are Austen, Curie, Frank, Johnson and Parks.

All students join a House at the start of their time at CGS.  Students in Years 7-11 are overseen by their Tutor and Head of House. The Heads of House will be the main point of contact for a parent wishing to discuss the progress of their daughter.  Sixth Form students will participate within their House as assistant tutors and mentors for younger.  All tutor groups are Vertical (introduced September 2017) made up of a mix of Years 7 -10.  From September 2018 all Vertical Tutor Groups will include Year 11.  The Pastoral Support Team and Behaviour Support Manager support the Heads of House to ensure of the wellbeing of students.

Each House has  a House Leadership team made up of Year 10 and 11 students. The 6th Form Head Girl Team work closely with these leaders. The House team are also supported by leadership roles in each tutor group so that younger students can also take a lead.

All students are actively encouraged to organise their own charity events and students regularly present in assembly.

We have a strong competition structure that is directly linked to our Core Values (Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Curiosity). Competitions take place every half term and incorporate a very wide range of interests. In addition students can earn House Points for each Core Value. Individuals and Houses are rewarded for having a high number of House Points via Head of House Awards, celebration events and reward trips.
