Belonging Mural Unveiled at Montpelier High School

We were fortunate last term to have mural artist Rory McCann in school working alongside our Student Parliament team to design a mural at the heart of Montpelier High School. Rory has many years of mural painting experience, having worked around the world and with many different school to bring their ideas to life.

Below you will find a series of short clips that describe the design process, Rory describing the final result and the unveiling of the mural to students.

It was decided that the mural needed to represent the MHS community, with imagery to reflect the city, our school values, the many languages spoken at school and our religious beliefs.

The mural was unveiled to a delighted Student Parliament team and the wider student body have been in awe of its incredible detail.

I love the aspect of inclusivity, so that everyone can feel as though they're involved - not just one person, or one idea. The school is a community working together to move forward.

Year 7 student Daria said:

the mural is so inspirational and captures the sense of belonging at our school

We send our thanks to Venturers Trust for their generosity and helping to make our ideas a reality.
